I just looked at it and my fretless only has the dots on the edge of the top of the neck, so That helps.

I have a fretless bass with a clean fretboard. No problem playing it when I had it up and going. Got to get new tuners on it, strings and setup. It's been awhile cause I have other basses. But to tell ya the truth, I really like the aesthetics of a clean board. Reminds me so much of a bass cello. :)
