    Apartment dwellers who play gigs

I used a cart and loaded/unloaded for every gig. Rarely did I ever leave anything in the car. It's always a bit of a PITA to go up stairs with a 410 or through an apartment complex rolling a cart but you gotta do what you gotta do. After a few trips you'll figure out your system and it'll go...

    NBD - Squier VI

The Squier was the perfect price point for a treat to myself and to experiment with something a bit left of center. Gets me into baritone territory as well without having to buy one of those too.

    NBD - Squier VI

Unfortunately that's the truth. I tried the D'Addarios first but they were too floppy - not enough tension for the weird scale length. The Labellas are definitely going to live on my VI for the foreseeable future!

    NBD - Squier VI

I picked up one of these about a year ago - it's a bit of an odd duck for sure but I dig it. I put the Labella Bass VI rounds on it and I like them a lot - you may want to give those a shot and see what you think.

    Show your p-bass

My late 80s E-series MIJ. I bought it around 1997 for $250. I added a late 80s E-series MIJ Jazz pickup I found online (I was so psyched to find something as matching as possible to the original P pickup!), Badass bridge, Hipshot D tuner with the double throw lever, Dunlop straplocks and a...

What is the absolute most bizarre, unusual, odd gig you ever played?

Played with a roots reggae band for a while in San Francisco. The singer/BL was invited to sing songs around the campfire at this birthday party on a Saturday night, and the Sunday morning after we were to play the Monterey Reggae Fest, so the BL took the whole band along to the birthday party...

Good setups - science, art, or both?

I'll have to check those out - thanks for the suggestion!

Good setups - science, art, or both?

I've been playing bad for about 35 years at this point and I've always struggled with setting up my bass. I've known how to do it, done it many many times, replaced pickups, bridges, tuners, etc. I've fixed problems while on the road, super-glued in a nut that slipped out... You know the drill...

    Honza992's INCREDIBLE acoustic basses

Went to Guitar Show Bologna here in Italy today and had a grand old time nerding out over all the great gear. I wanted to take a second now that I'm home to say some words about @honza992 and his absolutely gorgeous acoustic basses. Not only was it great to connect with another TBer in the...

I just learned Victor Wooten's birthday is 9/11!

I can confirm from experience that he is incredibly kind and generous. And yeah - I could listen to him talk all day long. 😁
