Thanks for the suggestion but I am first going to try the on on mini toggle switch route first, as the switch turned up this morning. I just need to decide which knob to remove now. Decisions decisions.

I was replacing the bridge for a number of reasons. The saddles where not all of the same type and I couldn't find a replacement just for them.When I looked to replace the bridge, like for like I couldn't find one exactly the same size with a curve,also they were all made of zinc alloy which...

Yes I think at some point someone split the pickups and then took out cap for the tone making it just volume controlled. I think I'll do as suggested and wire it as a P bass. I'm also going to get rid of that bridge. It does play really well.
