Thanks for the reply, the side dots are as one would find on a standard fretted bass. Someone suggested it might be a fretless which had been fretted but the side dots made me think otherwise. When I did the serial number search the only info I could find was that it was made in Japan in 84...

Looks like I’m in the right place… I’ve had this bass since the mid 90s. It’s a dream to play, the neck is like no other. When trying to find out more about the particular model, I drew a blank! I’ve never seen a fretted version with no dots on the neck other than mine… any ideas?
