Shout out to Walker and Williams responsivness

Dang! I wish I'd seen this earlier. I just tossed two of their straps for the same issue, would have been nice to get replacements!

First Kit Build - Bargain Musician Spalted 6

Well, Bargain Musician sent me a pretty stinkin' nice body with my kit today. I'm loving the spalt lines in it! :hyper: My plan is to tru-oil the body and headstock up to a gloss finish, but leave the neck with a thinner coat like my Stingray. I'll decide tomorrow if I want to darken it...

Upgrade pickups or add a pre first?

    Makes sense! Thanks!

Upgrade pickups or add a pre first?

Not attached to active/passive at all. Stock, it's already passive. Just didn't know if there was a rule of thumb for which is a better option to swap out first, assuming I hate how it sounds stock.

Upgrade pickups or add a pre first?

Apologies if something along these lines has been posted before - I searched, I swear it! I've got a 6-string spalted maple kit from Bargain Musician coming in tomorrow (BargainMusician.com - Warehouse Direct DIY Guitar & Bass Kits, Finished Guitars and Basses - 6S Bass Body Style)...

Needing help with a strap maker

I know it's a stretch, but I recently had a Gaboon Viper die and I'm hoping someone here could point me to a custom strap maker that may be willing to use the skin to make a strap for me. It's not quite long enough to be the whole strap, so I'm thinking it would need to be an inlay/inset in the...

Band got a gig (but we are not ready!)

I agree. Play it. There is no better way to learn your strengths and weaknesses than to get out there and have your successes and failures...as long as you learn from them. And for what it's worth, I've had far more "this is gonna be a trainwreck" gigs that turned out incredible than I...

    Staining Swamp Ash Question

Thanks, guys! I can't take credit for the control cavity design, though. This is a Warmoth bass so their creative geniuses came up with the design. I'm just gonna shield it and stuff it with an audere classic 4-band pre and a couple of 9volts. :)

    Staining Swamp Ash Question

Thanks @Praisegig!!!! :hyper: Here's the process so far. The veneer arrived today so after flattening I'll get it on the front of the bass, dried, and start the oiling. Thanks for your help! Here's the back before starting... Here it is after the 2 wash coats... Here's the mix...

    Staining Swamp Ash Question

Finally received my swamp ash gecko body from warmth. :hyper: I've got 2 pieces of this chestnut burl veneer to bookmatch for the top. Since the veneer with darken a lot more than the swamp ash body after I start finishing with tru-oil, I'd like to darken the sides and back of the body...

    Fretless Pickup Opinions Needed!

Those are what I'm looking at as well! Just not quite sure about them since reviews are few and far-between except for the bassplayer article from a year or so ago...
