My Club Bass is from Indonesia as well, 2011 production. Superb fit and finish, at any cost. I find current/recent Indonesian production instruments are of high quality.

SurferJoe, I'm looking to put a tortoise shell pickguard on my VM70s Jazz Bass (maple neck/body). Do you know of any direct replacments for this that would not require drilling? :D Tx Dex

FYI, starting a couple years ago, Fender changed the VM 70s Jazz Bass (Maple) in that they now put in 250k pots rather than the 500k they were using previously. This is verified by the Fender schematics I have for both versions.

One important difference tonally, is that the Fender version has only one tone control for both pups. This alone greatly lessens the toneage capabilities. The Squier version is a well revered tone monster crafted in Indonesia, looks fantastic, plays smooth and is a great value. I'd recommend it...
