    Mesa Boogie Subway D-800

Again, thank you all - lots of great advise posted. And thanks for the heads up on the Mesa store being closed down - a total bummer. Maybe Guitar Center sells them or Sam Ash sells them (which are both nearby me). Or, I'll order the Mesa (D800 or D800+ online - I still can't decide on which...

    Mesa Boogie Subway D-800

Hello TBrs: Thank you, again and again. You all shared so much good input/info w/regard to Mesa's. I will try to sell my SVT 7-Pro (asap) and go to the Mesa Boogie store in Hollywood on Sunset Blvd. It's just a bit of a drive for me but I can at least here the D800 and the D800+. I will...

And anyone can suggest about Genzler vs Mesa Boogie subway's bass amps?

I use to love my Ampeg SVT 2-Pro. 300 Watts of that warm tube-tone. The 2-Pros have graphic EQs so you could dial in better tones than the regular Ampeg SVT. Plus the EQ could be switched on and off via a pedal. Coming in at 95 lbs., plus the rack case - can you say bye, bye to your spine...

Thank you. It sounds like they are good amps. Hooray for Mesa Boogie.

    Mesa Boogie Subway D-800

I'm thinking of selling my Ampeg SVT 7-Pro. I'd like to get an amp that's even lighter than my 7-Pro which is 15.5 lbs plus the Gator soft rack case, so it's probably a total weight of around 25 lbs. Also, I like the idea of the Mesa Boogie Subway D-800 because it goes to 2ohms and I have two...

If you had $2,000 to buy a (used) bass - what would you get? (4 strings, passive)

This vs. that. You decide on your tone. It's those studio audiophiles' fault (studio engineers). For them, they cannot wrap their "gray matter" around anything other than a Fender Jazz or P bass (fretted or fretless). It's the only bass they can dial-in by heart. So, what I have finally...

Quilter Labs Bass Block 800 vs Mesa/Boogie Subway D-800

Thank you all for your input. I think the key (money permitting) is to buy both amps. Whichever one you like better, is the number one amp to play live with, and the other is your backup amp. I will hate to see the day when Quilter and Mesa are not made locally.

Quilter Labs Bass Block 800 vs Mesa/Boogie Subway D-800

I'm an Ampeg aficionado (of days gone by). I grew up with SVTs & 8x10 cabs. I prefer 300 watts of all tube tone and volume more than anything else. But (nowadays) it hurts my back to no end to lift that kind of bass amp & cab around. How do the amps I mentioned above come close to a warm...

Quilter Labs Bass Block 800 vs Mesa/Boogie Subway D-800

I hear ya and thanks for the info. I really should find a way to play my bass(s) through a Quilter. I know the tone I'm looking for and with the right amp I can tune that in rather quickly to any size room (99% of the time, anyway). And, at this point in my life, the lighter the weight of all...
