Maybe you can add a switch to make the bridge humbucker also a single coil. I have build a bass with just that. Amazing. For example you can make the volume knob a push pull version to switch humbucker/single coil. Make sure you use the coil near the bridge as the one.

Another question to that. Is it best to lay the case down or put it standing right up?
