If I were you, just keep on with the Epi, and keep your eyes peeled for a good deal on SG...and be on the lookout for one of those Elitist Epi EB-3s, they were really well done.
I gotta agree with Pilgrim, sounds like you already have the bass you want.
That said: I have the Gibson SG, and I do love it. So much so I got rid of my other basses. Compared to the Epi, it has (to me) a better feel, and a higher level of quality.

Yeah, hard to describe, I wish I could draw a picture...180 deg sorta desribes it. Maybe "folded" is more accurate...likely depends on the strap, I use a pretty wide one. And I loop my cable thru too...
