How was the switch from URB to ub804? I had to reutrn it because it felt like I was relearning the double bass.

You can get away with that with frets. On fretless you will have intonation problems (unless you just have big hands) until you reach the 2nd position.

Get it checked by a luthier. They may be able to fix the rattling issue. Sustain may be a technique issue, but you can get that check out too.
