I've been looking into getting a five string for a while now, but all the ones in my price range seem to have floppy strings and high action. Is it cool to ask the guys at the store to adjust a truss rod for me. I don't want to buy the bass and find out that the truss rod wasn't the problem and...

I've been searching for a while for a five string, and all the ones I've tried seem to have floppy strings. Not even just the low-b, every string. Is this normal? Would this problem be solved with an longer-scale neck? Should I keep looking or is this what I'll be getting if I get a five string?

I know what harmonics are, I know how to get them. I know natural harmonics and artificial harmonics. What I want to know is if there is some pattern for getting natural harmonics, right now it just seems like they're spread randomly around the fretboard.

It takes me a long time to find each note and get the rhythm when I read on bass. I know every note of the neck without a second thought but for some reason when I read I just can't match them up.
