What do you say when service/fast food workers call you BOSS?

I call everybody BOSS and I'm 68 yrs old. I only do it to make the conversation go quicker. I don't know, nor do I care how you identify yourself and I'm avoiding that topic entirely. I don't want to know your name or if you're having a nice day. I just want XX and I need you in some manner...

I keep getting talked out of getting a Rickenbacker. Why??

Everything they say about them is true..... the good and the bad parts. I gotta have one, but it's not possible for me to make it my daily player. It won't even be in the top 10. But it is fun.

    Small combo at home

I'd still get a Rumble 500. Take the handle off, throw a table cloth over it and let it double as an end table. All things considered (size, weight, power, options, growth) it just makes sense. If I wanna go smaller then that I use my WAZA AIR headphones.

    Owning Two Exact Same Basses

I'd agree on ALL THAT. The one thing being (and you said it) "there's something about THAT bass". EX. I have / have had a few Pro II P basses w maple necks. Not all of them sounded great. Dunno why ... other than color and weight (density of the woods) they were identical. I even suspected...

    Owning Two Exact Same Basses

If one wears FLATS and the other wears ROUNDS. Then I can see it. I suppose it's kinda useful if/when you wanna compare strings.... I'd at least get them a different color..... and/or neck (maple vs rosewood)

Post a funnier picture than the one above - Parallel Universe Edition

So yesterday the back road out of our neighborhood was backed up for 1/2 mile because the guys were painting new lines on the road. When I drove past them I kinda noticed they seemed to be “locals” with some antique looking equipment. Today when the road is opened up and I can see they painted...

    Best P pickup for flats

Oh no..... ya can't ask that. Everybody just shouts back the pups that they're familiar with. But having played this game for years I can add that changing the strings is the cheapest way to change things. And the variations between string manufacturers is surprising. The 2nd best (and my...

    Should I become a Drummer?

I'd have to hear you play to know oif you have the right natural skills. My neighbor up the street thinks he's a drummer too. Practices every day - for YEARS now. Thing is when you listen to him play it's just not "right". When he plays it doesn't sound like a drummer. It sounds a lot more...

'62 Geddy signature Jazz bass coming.

Boy there's an original idea to re-issue the '62 J. Never seen one of them before. But if he can't find a real one to match and be his #2, then why does he think Fender can mass produce new ones? Yes, it's about money..... and has nothing to do with you owning a bass that's just like his.

'62 Geddy signature Jazz bass coming.

So first you buy up all the vintage 62's on the market. But don't use them???? Wha? Do they just get stacked up in your warehouse somewhere? (I'm starting to develop an eye twitch). Then you flood the market with fake 62's? Gee thanks......

Ultralight tuners to fix the dead spot in a P bass?

I don't believe it's gonna work to the point of making you happy. What the belief there is that the necks natural resonant frequency falls within the range of the notes on the fretboard. You need to add mass or (better yet) stiffness to change the natural freq. Most likely as you change it...

How much heat can a bass safely endure?

If it's too hot for you then it's too hot for the bass. It's the wood parts deforming that I'd be most worried about. If it's supported in the case then it'll probably be ok in the car (not the trunk). BUT..... IF I had the option I'd ship it. Hey, it's always been painless in the past. Use...

    So it's a 1964, except...

I wouldn't give more than $1100 for it. It's a Heinz 57 of bass parts. Honestly, this bass has nothing over a new production model. I don't see the value or the appeal.
