Yamaha RBX Series Owners Club (?)

I'd like to join the party :) Got an RBX170 Black circa 2008-9 I think. Can't remember exactly when I bought it. I'm a drummer really but thought I'd like to get in to songwriting or at least know what the guitarists and bassists were on about! Stopped learning unfortuately and it has sat in a...

    Clicking Truss Rod Noise?

Took your advice and not going to touch the Truss Rod at all now. Just wondered if the Rod nut should be wedged tight against the wood underneath it and if that was what made it so difficult to turn?

    Clicking Truss Rod Noise?

Just so that I'm not making a rookie mistake, in pic 1, I have the nut correctly identified? Also, I pushed it further in towards the fretboard but there is still a small gap showing. It was a good 2mm gap before. In pic 2, I've marked where the Truss Rod Nut is tight against the wood. Seems...

    Clicking Truss Rod Noise?

I will, no more adjusting. Thanks One thing I always did notice is that the nut had a gap between the end of the fingerboard where they both meet.

    Clicking Truss Rod Noise?

Bugger!! Would I not need to fully unscrew the nut on the end of the rod to lubricate?

    Clicking Truss Rod Noise?

Oh, ok. Should stick to drums really! How do I reattach, bit of glue or am I being ham fisted again?

    Clicking Truss Rod Noise?

Cheers, I’ve got some I use on the bike. What could cause the nut to detach?

    Clicking Truss Rod Noise?

Thanks. Yes, sorry, should have said that the neck seemed too flat after doing a few measurements I’d seen on here. What would cause the nut to detach? What lubricant would be best on the threads?

    Clicking Truss Rod Noise?

Hi all, I just joined TalkBass so this is my first question post. :) I've had a Yamaha RBX170 for about 10 years, never really got round to leaning to play. I'm a drummer really! Anyway, started getting lessons now. From when I got the bass new, it always seemed to have problems with the E...

    Newbie from Scotland

Many thanks Malcolm35, I'll check these out. Now finding that I'm getting massive fret buzz but it's been sitting in a cold winter, then warm summer room for a good while. Tried a small adjustment of the truss rod but it won't move in any direction. Searching the forum as we speak!

Hi all, Have a Yamaha RBX170 that I bought years ago and never really got round to learning. I'm a drummer really so liked the idea of learning bass. Picked it back up and now starting lessons so here I am :)
