Have a Yamaha RBX170 that I bought years ago and never really got round to learning.
I'm a drummer really so liked the idea of learning bass.
Picked it back up and now starting lessons so here I am

Glad you decided to join us. Coming from drums the learning curve to bass is a walk in the park. Rhythm is the hard part that takes months to develop, you already have this.

Have you found fake chord sheet music? Follow the chords and play notes of the chord. Use these search words, chords, "heartache by the numbers". Heartaches By The Number Chords - Ray Price - Cowboy Lyrics

Then armed with the fake chord call up a video of the song being played and see what you can do. Invalid Link Removed

Just change the search words to video, hotel California, eagles and play a long.

Many thanks Malcolm35, I'll check these out.
Now finding that I'm getting massive fret buzz but it's been sitting in a cold winter, then warm summer room for a good while.
Tried a small adjustment of the truss rod but it won't move in any direction.
Searching the forum as we speak!

Fret buzz - Go flat wounds and put some foam rubber under the strings at the bridge.

That should help the buzz plus gives a sound I really like.
