Bought my first five string and need flatwound strings

Hello, On my four strings basses I've either used Fender 9050 or the Chromes ECB82. I'm looking for flatwounds for my Squier five string, and the roundwound gauges on it now are 45-125. Fender does not make a five string set and the Chromes ECB81-5 are 45-132. It's the 132 I'm concerned with...

80's Peavey 115 Cab Speaker Replacement Basket

Hello everyone, I need to repair a 15" Black Widow and would appreciate your thoughts on which basket. For the bass cab in the attached pic, I'm considering Peavey 1502-8 DT BW or 1505-8 DT BW replacement baskets. Thank you

    Why so many EQ options?

In shaping tone for a particular song in between songs, which device stage in the signal chain is is adjusted? With lows for example, not all devices color similarly and in which frequency in the device’s low band do you know to tweak? I imagine experience and device knowledge plays a big roll...

    Why so many EQ options?

I EQ the preamp to a base tone that I like and adjust on my bass for different songs.

    Why so many EQ options?

Hello, Every bass has some kind of onboard tone shaping (active/passive), most amps have a pre amp section for EQ for tone shaping and there is a great number of pedal offerings for tone shaping but why? I’m interested in understanding why a three band onboard preamp isn’t enough that an amp...

Thank you. After reading, a couple questions come to mind but I think I'll just keep reading and try to better understand the points being made.

    Pairing Cabs & Confusing Information

I hear ya. It reasons then that folks are buying a lot of mixed driver cab rigs regardless of some of the potential drawbacks.

    Pairing Cabs & Confusing Information

Hello everyone, I have a 115 Fender NEO and will most likely be purchasing a second. I've read many posts here (FAQ) where the common opinion seems to be to not mismatch drivers. I have an understanding of the explanations as to why to avoid this but many members here seem very comfortable...

Active Electronics and Battery Power Consumption

Hello everyone, Possibly a silly and/or obvious question but after a quick search and I'm still not certain after reading two of the returned threads. Will the 9v (or two 9 volt batteries) drain quicker solely by keep the volume knob dimed (with the tone knobs flat)? If so, does it then...

    Peavey Black Widow 1504

Thank you! After a second cleaning and being very careful to center the voice coil when reinstalling, it works! I believe that the later is really what did the trick.

    Peavey Black Widow 1504

Hello everyone, I have a 4ohm 1504 Black Widow that started buzzing pretty loudly. I took the magnet off and cleaned the foam out of the voice coil groove and from the voice coil itself. There was some pretty sticky black gunk on an area of the voice coil from the foam I assume. The speaker...

The new Fender American Elite Precision, Amazing

Oh, that was measured on one with a maple fretboard. I don’t know if the rosewood boards produce a different thickness. - I just measured mine (NBD BTW) and the caliper measures a hair shy of 7/8”.
