Well, I couldn't stand it and bought a new Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro. This thing is absolutely amazing! I think Epi has hit a home run with this bass!

Nice bass! True, the new G-3s were not the same as the old ones but should be looked at as more of a descendent as if Gibson had continued producing them. I think they are great and a friend of mine loves it but he also referred to the original G-3s as Gibson's secret weapon.
