    Charging more for left handed models.

    Being right or left handed is sort of a tendency, not an absolute limitation. I play bass and flute and the left hand has always a more complicated job to do, but once you start learning the technique, you forget that you are righty or lefty.

    Of course sound must go first in your priority list. But there's no need to choose, today you can have booth. That said, I think sound is first, ergonomics is second, durability third, and looks are last.

    I cant stop changing strings

    I think half rounds can be a good compromise if you absolutely must have it all in one bass. In my case, after going back and forth from rounds to flats, finally I settled for what felt good to my fingers and compensated (to some extent) with other factors: EQ, pickup balance, etc.
