Thanks for the feedback. I put this bass together a few years ago, learned to do basic set ups and how to solder. I shied away from messing with the nut at the time but been doing a bit of reading lately and gonna go for it.

Just realizing that if the nut height adjustment comes after a shim then I would have to redo the nut if I swap the neck to another body.

Using a .022”/.559mm feeler gauge to check the first fret clearance. I didn’t think about adding new strings. Every set up tutorial I’ve seen/read starts with one but it hasn’t be explicitly mention why. Thanks!

Luckily I didn't get charged anything. I took it to my local guitar shop and they have fantastic customer service. The tech said he couldn't work on it and contact Fender about the issue. My next step is to take it to a Fender Authorized Tech to get another opinion and go from there. Again...
