Help finding teacher in Bay Area

Calling all California Bay Area bassists. I’m looking for recommendations on electric bass teachers. I’m having very little luck with Google and local shops don’t have anyone who focuses on bass. Preferably east bay but don’t mind traveling to south bay or peninsula.

Looking to improve technique, ear, and timing. Any style is fine. The last two instructors I had were guitarists and they couldn’t really dive into bass as much as i would have liked.

If you're still looking for a teacher in the East Bay, reach out to Kai Eckhardt, he's got a studio in West Oakland. He's in Garaj Mahal, has a couple of Truefire courses and is a great teacher, very unconventional and blew my mind several times with his approaches. I'm not sure if he's still doing in-person lessons as he's got an online school now, but worth dropping him an email to see if he's still teaching 1:1.

I had some group on-line sessions with Dan Parenti via the California Jazz Conservatory (CJC). Excellent teacher. I believe he does private lessons as well as the CJC sessions. [email protected]

You can also check out the local Craigslist. There is a well known bass instructor out of Emeryville that advertises on there when he has availability -Michael Wilcox (510) 849-BASS (2277). I have no experience with Michael.

I think Myles Boisen is in the East Bay area...he's a walking encyclopedia of good ideas regarding bass (as well as music in general).

This is an older thread but i'm hoping to update it, wondering if there are any recommendations for a good bass teacher (for an adult) in particular in the Livermore/Pleasanton/Dublin California area?
