I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the Hipshot solo saddles. They are a very good system that served us well for over a decade. The new Minimalist bridge wasn't developed as a cost-reduction exercise (CNC machining is more costly than die casting and stamping), it was developed to address some specific performance requests as well as update and refine based on everything we've learned about bass and tone over the last decade.

After the failure of the Ibanez EHB Fishman Blue edition from last week, I waited a few days and let my gut decide that I didn't trust the instrument and I just wasn't cool with paying full price for that instrument when it would have come back to me repaired and possibly not well. The tech saying to me that if I decided not to take it, they'd have to put it in the store and sell it as a demo ........... WTH?!?! So, you're saying I cancel, and then I can buy it fixed for less later?

Yeah, well the whole thing was a bad taste, and so I drove in and I got a full refund. The salesman didn't even ask me, he knew what I was after and there was no hassle at all.

So, now having had a full return of my money, I returned home and set my credit card on fire with a new bass. Now I have four 4-strings and two 5-strings to work with, and they're all significantly different. If any of them go, it will be the Spectra Pro; as much as I like it, I can fill in for the Warwick Corvette $$ with one of the 5-strings if I decide to play out with a 4-string bass, or switch between them at a show. Best of both worlds: reliability and different capability.

If anyone has some tips on how to get the best tone from this bass, I'm all ears. I found it great in a mix, but am still hunting for a studio sound.
