    Compression revelation

Thanks! It was only after I took the picture I realised how bad it looked. It has now been properly cleaned with isopropanol and a rug.

    Compression revelation

I find that I can attack the strings very hard and getting a different sound, but not much louder. If always playing with compression, there is no downside of the goal is just to sound as good as possible. But from a perspective of playing technique I am thinking that one could lose some...

    Compression revelation

I have been playing a for a long time without any effects. Now I found a second hand markbass compressore which I find myself unable to turn off. (Though the picture was taken without power) Initially I tried a slow attack, slow release and low ratio, which warmed the sound nicely. Now, with a...

    Fender Downtown Express

I think that is some good news. After playing a bit more I am finding that I really like the compressor with my Fender P bass. EQ often a bit midscooped and bass boosted for a nice Beatles like tone. Starting with blend at 100%, threshold to where I can just start to hear the compression on the...

    Fender Downtown Express

Let's hope so, I mailed and asked Fender the same question a good while ago, but nobody got back to me. Ended up buying the unit after testing anyway.

Thanks for writing up your impressions. The description for the DE says: "Your one-stop shop for bass tone-shaping, the Fender Downtown Express bass multi-effect puts ... Analog Compression, Overdrive, and EQ circuitry" But I do not know this means that only the Compression is analog, or all...

Testing Compressors: Cali, Smoothie, Empress, Diamond, Keeley, FEA, Darkglass, Doc Lloyd, Lusithand & more

Hi, good read! You think you would be able to test the compressor in the Fender Downtown Express, as well as the Fender the Bends? Also been interested in the Orange Kongpressor. Thanks

    Fender Downtown Express

I agree, blend on the overdrive would be perfect. With just the tiniest amount of compression and some eq (+ mid, -treble, bass to taste), I got a great sound on my Pbass, at least for fitting into the mix when playing along YouTube videos. Easy to go overboard with compression though.

    Fender Downtown Express

Wondering what those 4 LEDs are, they are inside the unit. I am no electrician, but looking at the ICs and googling I find the largest one being an analog multiplexer/demultiplexer, one being a VAC (for compressor?) and most being the same type of OP amp, some different types though. There are...

    Fender Downtown Express

I got this pedal yesterday and I like it so far. With a Fender MIM Precision bass and into an Ashdown 15" 180 W combo, it sounds great. I had a quick look inside and the circuit board fills the whole unit with lots of components, several ICs and something that looks like a FET, could not tell...
