Ah thanks. I was using the wrong DI. I guess pre-master bypasses the eq as well but seems fine for my case.

Small amp enhancement idea. Maybe this isn't common but I do a lot of recording and so need to unplug the speaker because I just use the DI into my DAW. Someway of just muting the speaker output would be convenient instead of unplugging.

Yes, I agree which is why I don't think simplicity is a very good way of deciding which of these amps to buy. They're all simple enough. I would just look at their default tone. Want tubey and never feel the need for anything else, 800D seem like the easy choice. Nice clear tone, D800+, etc.

IMO all the Subway heads are dead simple. The TT-800 for example has seven knobs per channel vs six on the 800D. The WD-800 looks the most complex with its parametric EQ so maybe that needs fiddling with. I feel like I'm missing something reading about the how simple this amp is. The back of...

I have a Sandberg and Alembic four string. My plan is over time get a four string fretless and a six string fretted. I don't plan to ever sell a bass so trying to be thoughtful about what I buy.

Yeah that's the way I work as well. EQ just seems so unnecessary because the amp has a better EQ and with two pickups, you can just change their balance to get more bass or treble. I just leave my new bass in passive mode since I never mess with the EQ. But alas, no tone knob.
