    New Band Red Flag

Have you resolved the timing issues you mentioned ? The relationship between the drummer and bass player is not always automatic. I am in a band that changed drummers. The new drummers timing sometimes drifts -and he definitely speeds up on certain songs. the drummer he replaced and I locked...

Top 5 Worst Concerts of all time

Worst concert I ever attended was Sly & the Family Stone 1971 in the Spectrum (Philadelphia). They played a sloppy, disinterested set for about 30 minutes - every one but the drummer left the stage after a few minutes the drummer stopped and left. I was disappointed becasue I liked their music...

    Play for quality or quantity?

The statement that " a bunch of drunks won't know the difference" tells me everything I need to know. I believe in playing each song the best that I can recognizing my limitations as a musician. I know that there may be mistakes. With that said not caring and playing haphazard because "the...

    Why no Rickenbacker import line?

Ric management seems fine with being a small niche operation. It appears to me that they have never been interested in expanding their production

Diplomatic way to make the drummer stop drumming?

Our band has the same problem not with the drummer but with one of the guitarists. He plays songs or riffs unrelated to practice between most songs. Usually he does not play loud but it is hard to have a conversation when he is doing this. One of us simply asks him to stop when we need to...

    Jazz soloing technique

I think the analogy between musical Improvising and creative writing is right on target. We all know words but how many of can assemble like Hemingway, JD Salinger or James Joyce ?

Gallien Krueger Club. GK Rules !

I have wanted to try a Fusion 550 since they came out but I haven't seen one in person to date. Really looking forward to your feedback. Love the sound of my 700RBII and my 400RBIII - but the idea of the tube pre-amp is intriguing. P.S. The assigner of GK club numbers, may I have a number?

    Headphones Playing Quietly.

Plug the bass into a GK amp, not connected to speakers, the DI from the amp is connected to a mixer, an mp3 player, a microphone and headphoens are also connected to the mixer.

    Thinking About Walking Away

As several people have said before in this string age is not a factor and age does not define coolness. Paul McCartney is usually the coolest guy in any room he walks in and he just turned 73. as several others have said also You don't need to quit the bass - you need to find a different group...

What is your favorite vintage J bass color scheme

I agree - nothing beats the look of a sunburst J with tortise shell pick guard. Of course I took the pickup cover and bridge cover off a long time ago (still have them in the case) Frank
