they are too expensive! something cheaper? however is it true that sd and fender pickups aren't good with woods that aren't ash, rosewood, alder???

i'd have already taken SD spb-2 and STKj2b but sd site says that sd pickup works well with classical fender woods... and then i i know a person who bought 2 sd pickup (180€) and then his bass (ibanez Gsr-200) sounded just like before... (maybe the bass was very cheap)... anyway mi ideal sound...
