I think the new daddario NYXL bass strings ship tomorrow!? Pre-ordered mine from musicians friend yesterday, cant wait. But definetly daddario pro steels are my favorite right now for the sound that you get after they're worn in, amazing

The squier modified Jazz fretless is a stunning bass, the one that looks like jaco's. it sounds different than any other squier jazz and it's got great tone and versatility, and for 300 bucks. but if you've got a little more money you can find and bass body you want and order a fretless bass...

I had one of the classic vibe squier p basses and it sounded very boxy and the tone knob didn't do anything, but I'm not really a p bass guy unless it's paired with a jazz pup

If it's all you can afford a squier Jazz isn't bad at all (I personally think the squier p basses suck though) but I'd go for a MIM fender jazz used or new if you can afford it.

I would definetly go for the MIM, got mine brand new for 300 bucks (with a peavey trade-in) and I like it better than most jazz's I've played, excellent quality and sound
