Good question, I'll never be a Jamerson or Wooten, but if I could match Trevor Bolder (Bowie's glam rock era bassist) I'd be happy with that.

The tutor has directed what we do all through, but it feels kinda haphazard and directionless at times. I'm willing to put the effort in, I try to do about 10hrs a week which is feasible around work/family etc.

I hear you mate, problem is we've been in lockdown for months in UK, as soon as they "let us out" am gonna try and connect at least with a drummer to get that experience.

Yeah, am gonna find another tutor. I picked this guy mainly because he was local but due to Covid have had Skype lessons nearly a year anyways... so I may as well find someone else almost anywhere on the planet! As you say, a good teacher can assess the individual and tailor their approach.

You're right, a lot of the fun has been sucked out of the process.
