I have an Indonesian made starcaster jazz, and it is actually pretty nice. I like it alot. I posted some pics of it on here in another thread. Not at all like the guys are saying above. It's actually a really decent bass guitar. Would make an awesome starter or gigging bass.

Looks like a 4 piece alder body. One of the reasons I posted this was because I saw so many threads of people bashing the Starcaster line saying they were cheap crappy basses with plywood bodies, warped or bowed necks, sharp fret ends, small frets, bad intonation, high action, horrible...

Ok.. Deleted some pics so I could upload a new pic. Added a 3 ply B/w/b pick guard. Sanded and nitro'd the neck and added new decals. Steel wool'd the fretboard and oiled. Still going to do the S1 mod. Love this cheap bass!!!

I just noticed this thread. A couple years ago, I decided to buy a fake Gibson les Paul supreme from China. It took about 2 weeks to get in. Finish wise, the guitar looked great. After a little setup, it actually played pretty good too. I wanted something I could take on stage and not have...

I'll have my new pick guard Tuesday, along with a decal set, so I'll get some pics then of the neck pocket to see if the body is plywood or not.

Oops.. I never even thought of that either! You'd think they would be able to do a search on google and find them pretty easily if they wanted to...

Oh.. I just ordered a 3 ply B/W/B pick guard. Was going to do the tortoise shell, but kinda like the black better on this one..

Yep, they are shielded and have the ground wires. I'll pull the control plate and pick guard and get a pick this evening. I'll also pull the neck to see. Forgot about checking the neck pocket.
