Mine is set where the factory put it. I've never adjusted it, and it sounds great. The bass side is lower than the treble side, and the pickup actually sits a lot lower than I expected...but it works perfectly. For me, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I can't speak for them all. I personally bought a pair of Subway 115s, topped with a Subway D-800+. No regrets!

The Rumble 40 is basically a bedroom amp. The Rumble 100 sounds like it would be perfect for your project.

You experienced the most "growly" Warwick of them all: The Thumb! Any other Warwick will not growl on that level. I've used both a German Thumb NT and a German Corvette, and the Corvette sounded more like a Jazz Bass than a Thumb. If you want that tone, you'll need to get a Thumb.
