What envelope filter would get me the closest to this sound? I know he uses an old boss multi effects pedal, but those are quite rare and expensive nowadays.

Its actually the opposite, I prefer my fingers to always hit the pup, and I already have it really high so the tape makes it that much higher(and stops the clicking).

If you want that chromes vibe with less tension check out the Ernie Ball group flats. Less tension, similar(but better) tone.

Could you explain how you achieved this? Im new to wiring and I am having trouble wrapping my head around it. I understand how your original idea would work, and that when both knobs are up there would be no sound, but how did you achieve having it be in series with both knobs up?
