getting in on this late...cuz i'm thinking of a project and found this in a search. (LUV the hollowbody project, mongo2!!) anyone tried converting a dreadnaught-style? thoughts/advice/problems? other threads to check out i might be overlooking?

a bit late...just cruisin this thread...my 0.2 cents: i play with a thumb pick for certain things, but never could find a pick i liked right out of the box. I use a few diff. kinds (dunlops, ernie ball, fred kelly, etc), but i always file them way down, shape them by sanding them, sometimes...

I think the 6 mm will work. I bought cat num CKM8-12 from guitarelectronic.com. They measure 6 mm ID. So, if you aren't changing out the pots to something different, the 6 mm should work. Be fun to see what yours turns out like!

You're right...it was two holes i had to redo. Sorry....did that part a few weeks ago and forgot the details. The J was crooked. I found many small discrepancies in the whole process...tuning pegs at mismatched angles, holes drilled non-vertically in the body. I bought the item used....i am...

Yup...one of my holes i redrilled for the J...it looked like to me, the J should be a drop in...but the holes in my mikro's body were not drilled with much finesse or precision. My stock J was catecorned (sp?). Hate drilling extra holes, but had to in this case.

Yes, it does seem to me that both P and J are "beefier" than the stocks. Overall, a richer more powerful sound to my ears. The only thing was the fit wasnt exact on mine...esp. for the P. I had to drill new holes. But, it doesn't look too bad to me.

OK. Here is a pic (I hope) of my Mikro project bass. This is my first time doing anything to a bass other than change strings etc...never even soldered before. It now has Dimarzio P&J pickups, rewired controls to have master vol, master tone and blend with black knobs, Hipshot black aluminum...

Hey all...I have been upgrading my little white Mikro, have replaced pups, knobs, changed wiring around, and now I am at the bridge. I am putting a hipshot A bridge on...but it is not an exact fit with current holes. Before I do anything stupid, has anyone else put this part on and can advise...

Ok...I could use some advice. I want to change out at least the J pickup, and have been reading thru the threads about selections other people have made. I've seen people choose Nordstrands, Bartolinis, Seymour Duncan...others...and from their descriptions all of them sound great. This is new...

Just a shout out to all the helpful posts in this thread! I just bought a used mikro--my first short scale--trying to make a little project of it. Lots of great ideas here....just have to figure out where to start.

Agreed. Bari always made my teeth feel numb from vibrations. But i am hankering for a bass clarinet...that could be fun. But, i cant just plug in my headphones and play "quietly" so as not to disturb the hubby. Sigh.

Definitely mediocre here...after so many years...will NEVER be a Wooten, Miller, Lee, Hamm, Sheehan, Claypool--unless science fiction fantasies suddenly become reality or senility changes my perspective. Heck, even trying to slap dislocates my thumb (genetics can suck). But I still luv playing...
