Cover band - playing for a share of alcohol sales

OK, so I'm a bass player and I'm a bar owner of 18 years. I have a strict budget for bands because of our area and have never charged a cover charge. The reason for no cover is because I have many regulars that aren't there for the band and I feel weird charging them. My thought for 2026 is...

    Suzi Quatro

So I believe I've heard of Suzi Quatro but have never listened to her. I see that her dad let her use his 57 Fender P when she started. Has anyone here ever seen her live? Just curious to know if she's a good bass player. I watched a few videos but the music isn't always my taste. Just...

Music theory\know all of the chords

OK, so I was a sports kid that moved into a music neighborhood when I was 13, no music to say in my life before that. All of the kids in my new neighborhood played guitar or drums, no bass players, so I decided to fit in and chose the bass. I took lessons from a local music shop (this was in...

I need help identifying this bass

Thanks a bunch. I never use it so I may just sell it to someone that will play it.

I need help identifying this bass

I acquired this bass sometime in the 1980’s. The case has Kramer on it and I always believed that it is a Kramer. I just can’t find this model anywhere in my searches. I come close but not exact. Is this a Kramer, and if so what model?

    $75-100 gigs in 2023

As a bar owner I have one comment... bring at least 90% of the patrons to watch your band, eat, and drink, and then you'll find that bars can pay more. I often get bands to play at what you've mentioned for dollars, and I have mostly my regulars. If you're a five piece band, and can't have at...

Fender Precision - looking for some input

I know this post is older, but I never answered the last question, there are no screw holes for the ash trays, so I'm thinking it may be really early 80's.

    No open strings?

I was told the same thing, but my teacher told me that there a really good exceptions... he then taught me Day Tripper to show me why. This is so funny because I have been playing for 45 years AND still try to play without using them. My god.

What was your first high end bass in the decade of the 80s?

I graduated in 1983 and my parents bought me a Fender P. Based on the serial number (this is my guess) it was from '78 - '82. Still have it.

Reccommend me some "hard"-ish songs to learn

Try Five Gears in Reverse by Elvis Costello. Really fun song too.

    Shape of a string

If a string were any other shape than round, would it work?

Fender Precision - looking for some input

I hardly use the thumb rest but I do like it.

Fender Precision - looking for some input

If it's an 82 that would be awesome. I received it for a graduation present in 83 and thought it was a bit older. Can't believe I never did any research other than check the serial number. I love playing it, but need to get it setup, and have the electronics looked at. It can be a little...

Fender Precision - looking for some input

Interesting on the pickups. I have a couple more pics to post just waiting for them.
