I really like the sliding wedge. You have to loosen the strings just like you would on the thumbwheels for adjustments. Very easy to adjust. I've made a couple of D'Aquisto style bridges with a sliding wedge for height adjustment. They work well.

20" lower bout. 4" ribs making the body 6 1/2" depth at the center. 34" scale and joined at the 17th fret so yes, about as big a guitar as you would want to play without standing it up! I'm actually considering adding a post to my wife's oval hole one.

I found a set of Elixer Phosphor Bronze, Extra Long scale that work perfect both acoustically and with the floating pickup.

Thanks. I've looked at the Takamines before. Much smaller and shorter body than mine which is based on Bill Moll's. They're definitely different animals.

Just checked out the prices for 1/4 standup bass strings. Pretty eyewatering! :)

That could be an option. The Elixers still work quite well with the humbucker. Are the upright strings steel core?
