I never said it is the Best bass. i was simply giving my experience with it. on top of that, your amp/cab setup has a lot to do with your sound as well. not just the bass. but for rock music, any bass would probably do just fine.

looking for a good, well priced, rackmount tuner with a mute button. Been looking at the Korg but seen comments saying that it bleeds through the amp even with the mute pressed. any ideas?

try a fender jazz bass. I love the sound i get from mine, at works good for rock/pop/alternative music. So far haven't played in any style that it didn't work in. I also have several friends who play one in their bands.
