I thinking of getting a Demeter DI for home recording. And when I practice with the band I play through a cheap 150 watt bass amp. Would it sound better if I have a DI box between the bass and the amp? Because now it sounds very sterile.

There is a Swedish company that does an amp software and also a cool compressor software. It´s called Softube. There is both a bass and guitars modulations. They have a demo site on thier webpage. I have never been crazy about these plug ins from line6 and other programs. But these products...
