There is a Swedish company that does an amp software and also a cool compressor software. It´s called Softube. There is both a bass and guitars modulations. They have a demo site on thier webpage. I have never been crazy about these plug ins from line6 and other programs. But these products sounds better for my ears anyway. The FET compressor is used by big name producers so it can´t be that bad. They have a **** load of things on their website. Link Removed

Many Bass amplifier manufacturers have signature bass modeling plugins and standalones that are signed off by the ears of the engineers at the company that put their Name on the products.
Ampeg,
Fender,
Markbass,
Gallien Krueger,
Peavey (doesn't model their bass amps at this time, but does their guitar amps),

Many more unofficial modelers.
Peavey Revalver does unofficial modeling of other amps, and official of their own.

It's just the tip of the iceberg but they are catching on everywhere.
