    When I got my 4003S, I always thought it stood for "Smooth" as opposed to the binding edge, that people complain cuts into your forearm.

    They seem a bit heavy (weight-wise) to me and you can get everything you want in a bass, at 1/5 the price, by ordering one, custom, from Kiesel Guitars in Escondido CA. Their product is quality and they work with you every step of the way.
