I belive it has a 144db spl, and I'm deffinetly nowhere near 144db. Could it be because I'm in d standard? What would be the way to get the clearest recording? (how far away should the mic be, how loud should my amp be). Maybe I should keep the levels low and turn my Amp up really loud.

I'm just using the sound recorded that came with my OS. There aren't any equalizers or faders or anything that can be changed. And I don't know my Sound card, it's 4 years old, but do you really think that's the problem? I don't wanna buy a new sound card if I don't need too

There is no pre amp, it's a USB mic. When I go under microphones on my sound preferences and go to the input level it can only go to 6 without distortion.

I bought a AT2020 USB to record myself at home, and to record my whole band when were jamming. I pulled it out of the box, plugged it in, and tested it. The recording was so quiet I could barely hear it. I looked at the recording level an it had defaulted it at 6/100. I thought to myself, "***"...

But I thought that if it's in a key you can't use any notes besides what is in that scale( according to you melodic d minor). There is no f# in melodic d minor but there is in that section. The key stays the same the whole song right?

And how do you tell what the root note and what chord he's playing from what I put up above? I know like, a major chord is the root, major 3rd and 5th. This is all kind of confusing, and if somebody could explain it it would be helpful

No he just gave me tabs. Can you tell the chords by looking at the tab? I've noticed in most metal the bass plays pretty much the same thing as the guitar, except for when he plays chords, then the bass just plays the individual notes. I get that part, but what about when he's not playing...
