+1 On the Ashdown, the best lightweight amp Ive ever heard, superfly cabs are amazing also.

On the SVT-2 PRO regardless what the standby switch is set to when powering up the amp is in standby for 10 seconds or so then will kick in, you'll hear it kick in as well as the light turning green from red. I usually go into standby for a bit before powering down, just a habit.

Could be something like a bad Earth, Try turning off other electrical equpiment in the room, or if you have dimmer light switches turn them off, they can make bad noise through your amp and overdrive pedals will just make these noises louder. Hope that helps.
