Ampeg Micro-VR head + 2x SVT 210AV cabs
First thoughts:
my first impression was that this rig looks SO beautiful! the packaging was excellent by Ampeg. I was impressed by the double boxing and the head and cab had foam on the corners so it wouldn't move around inside the box. This rig came from Florida all the way across the world to New Zealand safely.
It is quite light, i can hold the head with one hand easily. i can also hold the cabs with one hand comfortably.
It works perfectly with the Voltage switch on the back of the micro vr to 230V in New Zealand.
Yes the fan in the head does make some noise, but it is not enough to bother me.
The height of this rig when stacked is approx 170cm (around 5'7"). I am 178cm (5'10").
The rubber feet of the top cab doesn't actually fit into the holes of the bottom cab because it is meant to be for the head only. I'm sure Ampeg have tried to make both head and cab fit into the same holes but I guess measurements just couldn't work this way. Even though the top cab's feet doesn't fit into these, it can stand fine on top of the bottom cab.
Sound is crystal clear and has the famous Ampeg 70's SVT tone. At flat settings, it has the same vintage tone of the big SVT. I've found the EQ to be not highly sensitive though. For example, I have to turn the mid knob all the way to the left to get a decent midscooped tone out of it. It's probably not a bad thing, I'm just not used to it. (I have yet to try it out with my sadowsky bass preamp pedal).
I have a few gigs coming up. One will be outdoors, I'll probably use both cabs for that, and one is a quiet gig inside, using 1 cab for that.
At this point, I'm loving this amp. Good sound, looks like an impressive big rig when stacked. Hopefully after these few gigs coming up, I can come to a final conclusion of whether or not it lives up to my expectations

ShowKing, your thoughts mirror mine very closely on this rig (and yes, it bugs me, too, that the feet on the bottom of the cabs don't line up with the holes on top).

anyone with an ampeg b2 combo? i have the head (whole chassis pulled from a b2 combo works, has plexi glass over the top and is sitting on a cab right now) been thinking of building a 4x10 combo out of it. or has anyone converted one to a stand alone head that doesnt look like a bare chassis with something to cover the top?
I have a B2 combo that's still a combo. That same chassis was used in the (discontinued) SVT-350H head.
sweet, thanks. just might have to look up the dimensions and the like for that and make a clone. lol. that'll be def cheaper than turning it into a 2x10 or 4x10 combo like i was thinking.
Already have a number, but just picked this us yesterday!
I was having doubts that going from a 4 ohm 410 to this one I would have a large decrease in volume, but doing some a/b tests with this and my MBC410, the ampeg is just as loud if not louder.
Now all I need to get is one of those Pro neo 210's, but I'll wait for tax time with that one.

Already a member, but wanted to throw this out there...
Ordered a Heritage 8X10 today. I expect delivery the middle of April. I'm not really sure WHY I had to grab one except that I really like the idea of the USA thing and the premium Emminence drivers.
I guess that the idea of USA built products has always been important, and, I fully expect it to sound great!
Anyway....glad I did it
