HX One vs Lizzard King vs Big Muff

I didn't know HX had a drop pedal in it, and seems most are recommending the HX one. Now I'm kind of thinking I should just get a stomp and sell everything. Would save $400 basically HX stomp (new) - $649 - HX one (new) - $299 - DigiTech drop - $200 - tone corset - $65 - dark glass photon -...

HX One vs Lizzard King vs Big Muff

A little background on where i'm at since this is a pretty specific question. I play in a cover band mostly Misfits, Black Sabbath, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Muse, amongst other. My current rig is: - Jazz bass (with quarter pounders) -> tuner, Digitech Drop, EHX tone corset comp...

Emg 35s on epiphone thunderbird e1

Thanks I'll try it out. At least it's good for a temporary fix until I figure out something more permanent. I do think the wood dowel painted black (or even trying to match the color) would look better. But this would be reversible.

Emg 35s on epiphone thunderbird e1

I just wanted to share this with the group as it might be helpful for someone else. I bought an epi thunderbird with the thought of substantial upgrades, one being pickups. I had bought emg TB pickups, but unfortunately those are only for Gibson. It would require substantial routing to make...

    Pickups epi thunderbird don't fit

Yeah. I'm still going emg. But I'll put the 35dcx instead of the tbdc. It's small enough to fit in current route, a bit too small, so I found a ring to cover the excess. This way I don't have to route the bass and can have the upgrade x preamp

    Pickups epi thunderbird don't fit

Thanks. I've decided I'll go the 35csx and 35dcx route. I measured and they should fit in the cavity, albeit a bit too small. I found (and measured) I can use 8 string humbucker pickup rings as the inside matches the 35s. We'll see how it goes. Added benefit I can now get the x series. The...

    Pickups epi thunderbird don't fit

I don't mind going with regular soldered pickups. I went with EMGs because of the TB specific measures. What other options are there?

    Pickups epi thunderbird don't fit

Hey guys, I was trying to upgrade pickups on an epi thunderbird I bought. I got the EMG TBCS/TBDC. Took original pickups out, and went to put new in to find out they don't fit :/ Old pickup dimensions: 3.83 * 1.47 TB pickup: 3.75 * 1.64 (Measured with my e-caliper) I look at the 35 (3.5 *...

Any solution for Drop D tuner on Reversed Headstock ?

Somebody with a 3d printer could reprint the lever. That's the only issue I had since the lever was hitting the next tuner. It's actually a pretty easy fix if you have the skill.

Any solution for Drop D tuner on Reversed Headstock ?

I know this is a dead thread. Sorry. But for anyone that wants to know I tried installing a detuner (hipshot gb7) and didn't work. I have a righty bass that I flipped to lefty, so basically have a reverse headstock. Epi thunderbird. I installed the bass extender on the furthest away tuner (for...
