I have both on my board and there's overlapping only in sense that they can both change the EQ, but in a completely different manner. Their purpose is not the same: Empress EQ is powerful and transparent EQ, while the DCX Bass is a tone enhancer.

Mirrors my experience - I didn't even have to leave home to hear that it has no real authority in low end. 410HE eats it for breakfast in that regard.

In-ears is yet to come - only the singer is using one. As for my signal, the ParaEQ is for the amp, and DCX for slightly coloring the clean DI signal. This is still setup in the making, I'll surely adjust the path as I try it on live.
