First time playing blues - any feedback?

Nice job! It sounds like you're feeling it. Timing is good as is your letting the notes ring. I've been commenting on some of your earlier posts and you are exhibiting great progress and a growing skill set. Keep up the good work!

    2026 Ric 4003S setup

Rickenbacker recommends straight or almost straight for their necks. My 2012 4003 is set up this way and plays great.

    Total Soldering Rookie

If you are careful you can melt off some of that excess solder with your soldering iron but may not have to. Strip a bit of insulation off the red wire, make sure the wire fibers are together. If not, twist the end of the wire until they are. Using a fully hot solder iron 'tin' the end of the...

Bass cover - I need your feedback!

You're doing great. Like Goatrope said, you just need to add some swing feel to it.

    Birdsong Club Pt 2

I use TI Jazz Flats on some of my basses. But on my Birdsong Cortobass I always thought GHS Precision Flats were a better match. No issues and I just cut the excess length. You could probably do the same with the TI's

Sadowsky owners, did you stick with the steel strings it came with or switched to nickel?

I put Sadowsky Blue Label Flats on my Will Lee bass and love them. Amazing tone!

First cover with my twin sister (drum & bass guitar). What do you think?

Very nice! You get better as the song progresses. Good to see that you're alternating your right hand fingers more than you were. Much smoother. Your sister keeps great time! Good on ya both.

How do you keep your notes in time?

What JonathanPDX said. You can also do one note exercises using a metronome to play quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes and more (triplets, swing eighths, etc.) at varying tempos. Start at a slow tempo and gradually speed it up as you become more comfortable with your counting. Helps build muscle...

My third bass cover - what do you think?

Sounds very good overall. I suggest you get more in the habit of alternating the fingers on your right hand. It sounds smoother when you do that. Try warming up with some easy stuff. Do it slowly but focus on alternating your index and middle fingers until it becomes second nature. Cheers!

Depressing...I THOUGHT I was really plucking correctly with my right hand.

I warm up using Valda Hammick Right Hand Finger Exercises. It's basic but if you focus on alternating the index and middles fingers I find that it habituates me to alternate in my playing. Hope it helps.

My second bass cover - I need your feedback.

Nice job! One suggestion. Your playing is smoother when you alternate the fingers on your right hand. At times you are just using your index finger. Try to remember to alternate.
