Ric owners: how do you like to blend your pickups?

I play a 77 4001 with flats and use the bridge pickup solo'ed 90% of the time. Still some aggressiveness to it but mellowed a bit by the flats, I love it! And then the neck pickup solo'ed gives you a Macca kind of tone whenever it s called for.

    The Rickenbacker Club Part Twelve

Hello, I am the happy owner of a 77 Rick 4001 and I could use some help from you experts I love everything about my Rick, it sounds like no other, the neck is thin and glorious  however, the bass does not balance to well and does not want to sit at a 45 degree angle when standing. As a...

    Rickenbacker 4001 '77 tuner replacement?

Hey there, I posted an NBD thread about my lovely 77 Rick a while back (the one in my avatar). Love this thing: play phenomenal, sounds brilliant and versatile (yes yes a Rick with flats can be very versatile :D ), and it sits in the mix like no other bass I own... Now the issue is that I woke...

    NBD! 1976 Azureglo Rickenbacker 4001

Congrats!!! Had some Ricks before but my 77 4001 is the only I kept. Completely different than recent 4003... The thin neck makes it so comfy and with Chromes on it you can get aggressive with the bridge pickup and very mellow with the neck pup... Absolute joy to play and what a sound! Enjoy it!

Interesting... i thought you were maybe in France based on your profile sig, but you seem to be in Iowa so shipping may be a bit steep for just straplocks ;)

NBD - Rickenbacker 4001 (with a couple of questions...)

Not really, despite living in Antwerp and therefore not far from Brussels... The next best thing is Rickysounds, a UK based page from where you can source a lot of Rick basses and spare parts. This is where I would order strap locks from if I go that route. For now, I'll try a new strap since...

NBD - Rickenbacker 4001 (with a couple of questions...)

Yes exactly! I was planning to re-use tuner screws from my Ray34ca (swapped them for Hipshot lightweight) but they are not a perfect fit. I guess I should fill in the whole with the toothpick and glue method. I am still not fully sure how to go about it though: do I use one piece of a toothpick...

NBD - Rickenbacker 4001 (with a couple of questions...)

Thanks!! Currently has Chromes on and I really like them! I found a Levy's suede strap in a shop around, I will give this one a try before doing anything with the straplocks

NBD - Rickenbacker 4001 (with a couple of questions...)

Yes, I am trying :) However the Rick jackplate screws do not fit in the hole anymore so I may use some slightly bigger ones like pickguard screws.

NBD - Rickenbacker 4001 (with a couple of questions...)

Thanks. I have the same at home however, my current strap is too think and there is not enough room between the strap and the strap pin top for them to fit  Time for a new strap maybe...

I use wide straps from Minotaur, love them but they are not very grippy indeed... Maybe time for a new one. Any recommendation appreciated!
