How many of you guys use BEAD tuning?

I have a primary bass and one backup tuned to BEAD using 65,85,105,130 string gauge and it works great. That means I have filed the nut and set up the neck and intonation for BEAD. The bass plays in tune all the way up the neck. I rarely miss the higher notes and find that I'm using much more of...

Tasteful use of a B string

Sadowsky- the low B is hard to beat. I have 4's and 5's and they pretty much make most of my other basses obsolete.

    Strings for BEAD

Sadowsky Guitars makes some of the best strings for any tuning. For BEAD they use 65,85,105,130T (the 130 is tapered). I use them on Sadowsky and Musicman basses tuned BEAD and they sound great with a nice, tight B.

    Mesa Powerhouse 112 or 115?

I run one or two PH 115's when on outdoor gigs because they have ample low frequency range when not going through a PA. Low B is fantastic with these cabs and you can always dial out some low end if too boomy. Keep in mind that I prefer the slightly slower response of 15's vs. 12's or 10's...

    Eden EX115

I just bought two of these based on sound quality. The dual cone design allows a respectable hi-fi sound from these cabs but they are still 15s so if you're going for the vintage round sound you can dial that in with EQ. Fairly loud pushed by a Mark Bass Tube 800. While I intend to use both...
