Is there a technical music term for this?

Except when you have bands like Mr. Big doing it. I've heard Billy play parts I didn't know could be played on bass. He once that that Paul Gilbert had a unique way of doing his pull offs in one song and it took Billy so time to get it right. If it takes time for Billy to get it right, what...

Is Shipping Cross-Border (Canada/USA) Really That Much Of A Hassle?

Brokerage fees have went through the roof since other people are getting blamed. The shippers found a way to get extra money and take none of the blame from the average person.

Is Shipping Cross-Border (Canada/USA) Really That Much Of A Hassle?

The long form that has to filled out. It takes some time and effort that no one is getting paid extra for.

What the absolute least amount of pedals you could get by with?

Zero. In 40 years I have never owned a single pedal. The only effect I ever even played with was an SPX-90 when they first came out but that was just playing around at the house.

Would you buy a 6 years old brand new bass ?

I bought quite a few Peavey Cirrus basses a few of years ago that had been sitting in their cases at the Samick factory in Indonesia since 2017. Still had the hang tags and covers over the strings. Factory setup was still decent on most of them. A couple needed a little adjustment but nothing...

What's the Best Bass Deal You've Ever Found?

6 years ago. Brand new last run Indonesian Peavey Cirrus basses from 2017 still in the box direct from the Samick factory in Indonesia. I bought quite a few for $280-$350 US. Ended up keeping the Bubinga because they were so hard to find.

Thoughts on fretboard wear on vintage p bass

When you see Sting's old P bass or Billy Sheehan's Wife, you automatically know that it must play great no matter how it looks and IME that has carried over to other guitars and basses as well. The closet queens never got played and the owner never really knew if what they had was "good" or not...

Thoughts on fretboard wear on vintage p bass

If it has that much wear. It must play pretty good. The closet queens are the ones you have to look out for.

The Official U.S. Peavey Cirrus Club

I still have the original set on one of mine that doesn't get played a lot and they still sound fine. Not quite as bright but acceptable.

Is the "battle of the bands" a real thing? I've never heard of or seen one.

Clubs all over the place had them in the late 80's. Most would give a "vote ticket" for every drink bought and there would be 4 tubs with the names of each band. It was really about which band brought more drinkers with them but they were fun for a dressed rehearsal and to get your name out a...

Why does thinking about playing patterns instead of notes not work for me ?

I noticed that even though I didn't mean to, when writing songs there tend to be patterns that I use. Many different patterns but still patterns in the end.

You couldn't be more wrong as I see has already been explained to you.

can anybody give me any insight on cort basses

If you have played it, it's not made in the US and it's not a custom, chances are it's made by Cort or Samick. They both have the knowledge, skill and machinery to make whatever they want but their names don't carry the weight they should given the circumstances.
