This is the bit I was wondering about more so. If I have a volume control for the bridge pup, and just the volume on that pup off, but the pup will still be in the circuit, though not having any noticeable output. So in this case is a 3-way pickup selector redundant?

Good catch, sorry I wasn't clear about that. It would be a 3-way pickup selector: Neck pup, Bridge pup, and both pups. I would have the neck pup in the P-bass "sweet spot" and the bridge pup in the 60's j-bass spot.

My one thought from looking at the cut away is that it's pretty deep and should allow easy access to that 24th fret. Not something you see on a bunch of mass produced basses, at least not on fenders.

When you say angle of the neck, and reference the three bolt design are you talking about looking for an angle where the neck attaches to the body, or looking for a bow in the neck itself?
