New Limited Edition Vintera II RW '60s Precisions - Finally, Nitro is here!

That looks amazing. Very good details. Hope you scored a nice one ! The dry look on the neck is common to the rosewood Vinteras, I think. Looks good to me. Nice inlays. Not excessively oxydized metal parts. Back of neck looks good. Hopefully wont wear too fast after that point. Questionable...

New Limited Edition Vintera II RW '60s Precisions - Finally, Nitro is here!

A Bit off-topic, but... I actually bought a P-bass Vintera ii 60s in olympic white in August but will now return the 2nd unit due to defects. Finishing was good on both. I would expect slightly improved lateral fret feeling - which could be overall rounder. The first Vintera had a misaligned...

What bass combo is this ?

Apparently made in the 60s and 70s in Italy. With or without tremolo (hence the RT). Schematic is available in Google. Interesting design. Guitar amps can be used as bass amps ( depending on required volume). It worked well. Listen here :

What bass combo is this ?

You guys are incredible. That's the amp!! And the very small letters at the right are barely seen on the picture. I only saw them today when i stopped at that specific video frame. They say "big". This was a small jazz band so those 25w are perfect. So this is a Sound Big 25w.

What bass combo is this ?

Sound City? It could be, didn´t remember that one. But can´t find any pics. This band is from Portugal. Some of these member founded a jazz-fusion-funk band in 1983 and later in 1984 release an album called "BIT".

What bass combo is this ?

Hi all, I´ve come across this image in a video, but I can´t figure what bass amp brand this is. This video is from 1982 so the amplifier must be from the 70s or very early 80s. The image is not very clear, but it seems to say " sound ". And also something like " Fonna " below, but that looks...

    That vintage almost roundwound slap

I think i´m going to go the GHS "pressure wound" route. Thinking about it, what I am looking for is probably more of a Semi-round string then a Semi-flat string :) I almost got (or eventually, I did got) this tone from my "Roberts Flatwounds 40-95" strings when they were brand new. Now they have...

    That vintage almost roundwound slap

That's very kind forma lol of you. Thank you so much for the suggestions. In terms of texture I like something between a TI flat and a round wound. So, perhaps a true Flat is out of the equation for now. In terms of sound, imagine q very worn out round wound but with some extra warmth. Hugh...

    That vintage almost roundwound slap

    That vintage almost roundwound slap

Agree. It is more than just the strings. But are there any strings that would greatly contribuite to this sound ?

    That vintage almost roundwound slap

Hi, I don´t use pick. Only finger attack. I am also not a fan of roundwounds or "zing" in my sound. However, I know that many bass players used them in the 70s or even 80s and got a tone has no zing in it, but still, it bites very well while still sounding vintage. Well, it wasn´t back in the...

´21 Squier CV 60s Precision pickup vs Fender original 62 P

Hello, Thank you for your kind replies. My concern was that I could eventually not be getting the best out of my instrument. I have played squier guitars in the past where the swap to a MIA Fender pickup or a Seymour Duncan of same nature would make an instant improvement in my tone. It just...

´21 Squier CV 60s Precision pickup vs Fender original 62 P

Dear all, I have this bass with the stock pickups. It is not that the pickups that come with it sound bad, but I wonder how the Fender 62 original (not the custom) compares. I don´t have any comparison as it is my first P-bass, but I would like my bass to sound as "correct" as possible to what...

Testing Compressors: Cali, Smoothie, Empress, Diamond, Keeley, FEA, Darkglass, Doc Lloyd, Lusithand & more

So today I tried the old Trace Elliot SMX Dual compressor with the 18v original charger. I don´t have much to compare with (only tried a Behringer mic preamp as a workaround before), but I liked this one more. I set it to same level on and off. So, I´m able to choose to use it or not...
