    Best short scale under $1000?

I'm not sure if there is a "best" of anything, it will come down to what's best for you. My recommendation is the Hofner HCT 500/1. This is the contemporary version of the classic violin bass. It has a sustain block in the inside, effectively making it a semi hollow body. It is assembled in...

    Craigslist was kind today- Hofner

Although I have a Gretsch bass that I love, I always wanted a voilin bass. I like the short scale and am a Beatles freak, so it kind of fits. After looking around and reading reviews, I bought an Epiphone Voila. I've always had good luck with Epiphone guitars, so it seemed like a natural...

Only ONE pair of flats a local guitar center?

I've had no problem getting LaBella flats from Sam Ash in town.

    New Bass Player Advice Needed

I had the bass set up with a set of LaBella flats. The set up made a big difference, although I'm getting used to the feel of the strings. The recommended exercises have helped as well. Thanks for all of the help.

    Hagstrom Super Swede Bass Reissue!

I have a Hagstrom Viking and can't recommend it enough for the $ I paid. I wouldn't hesitate to try one of their basses.

    New Bass Player Advice Needed

Thanks for all the advice. I lost track of time last night and didn't stop playing until my wrist started bothering me. It was only then that I realized 4 hours had passed. The plan for now is to not do that again, and have the Gretsch dialed in, although I agree that it isn't far off. I would...

    New Bass Player Advice Needed

I forgot to mention that I haven't had the Gretsch set up yet. I'm playing it as it came off the wall at GC. I might have considered an Ibanez hollow body, but GC could not be bothered enough to do anything but plop it on the wall. Both of the Ibanez models they had there had fret buzz so bad...

    New Bass Player Advice Needed

Hi All, First post here. I'm new to bass but have played guitar (poorly in my opinion) for 39 years. I'm 47. I bought Rocksmith to help improve my guitar playing. It has helped, but I tried bass emulation mode and found I played far better and had more fun. So, I went bass shopping and tried...

The OFFICIAL "Gretsch Bass Owners Club"

I'm new to bass guitar and went out yesterday to look for my first bass. Nothing really excited me. I was looking at Epiphones and Hofners. The only thing I really liked was a Rickenbacker at Sam Ash, but I wasn't spending $1950 on it. My wife was along and she was cool with it, but I couldn't...
