How does the ESP Vintage 4 compare to a Fender American?

I have to decide between these two but I can't decide which I should keep. How do the values of each hold? Which do you prefer and why?

I've seen Fender Precision Plus Bases go for around $600 to $800 in here, according to this guy wine red is a rare color and "because of the color and rarity its going for 1300 right now." Does the color really affect the pricing that much? I've never thought of wine red to be a rare color...
