First build. 4 string fretted, neck through (wenge/maple), body (wenge/ash/maple)

I used my router sled to make the channels for truss-rod and the carbon fibre reinforcements. The opening for adjustment will be towards the body and not in the HS.

Hi Lonnybass Thanks for the 'heads up'. I know the risk of tear outs on figured boards is greater, and have also noticed that lmii doesn't do it on birdseye. I have searched broadly and found that I can minimize the risk of tear out by soaking the board before routing (just a tiny bit of...

A couple of weeks ago I tried out the radius jig. My first attempt gave some hints about what not to do - e.g. do not put to much pressure on the router - the bottom (plexiglass) is not rigid enough for that and it will make marks that needs to be sanded away afterwards. Here's some pictures of...

Router jig + radius jig inspired from TB I have build this router sled jig inspired from lbridestine (the first thread I saw it in) but I have since seen many others in different variations. Thanks for the inspiration :) It is build from scrap. Only bought the threaded rods and some nuts...

LowDown Basses #7,8 and 9. First builds from lumber.

Beautiful wood and very nice combinations. I particularly like some of your work with the veneer under the BE maple fretboard.

    Are bass neck radiuses consistent?

Hi AudioDwebe Do you mean the neck or the fretboard? Like Jisch writes, there's compound and "normal" radius (the same radius all along) for fretboard. Lot's of videos and material on "why" and "how" on eg. youtube. I'm afraid I don't know of a tool that measures fretboard radius. Your best...

Hi Matt. Yeah I hope too :) I will look up your build-thread - if you have one?

Lid for control room cavity + wing assembly I used a handheld scroll saw (don’t know the right term!) to cut out the control lid from the back. Something like this one. I really wanted to use the cut-out for the lid, so it was crucial to get this right. I drilled a series of 4 or 5 small...

Thanks. I was actually inspired by some single-cut builds, and a hybrid between a tele and jazz (like "the bastard"). @Jisch - I'm from Denmark and have bougth them from a company called "finerkontoret" (the veneer-office!!!) :). I can't see from your profile info where you're from, but if not...

Fretboard upgrade :) Initially I wanted to use Birdseye maple for the neck. I couldn’t find any. I was probably looking the wrong places, plus in Europe I still think it’s hard to find. Finally I found a supplier in Germany (espen.de) and decided to buy two fretboards (I only need one, but now I...

Hi @yoshi - Thanks. Glad you liked my first design. I ditched it for this build, but I'll keep it in the drawer :)

New design - new pickups So since I have decided on the new design and started breaking sawdust, I really needed to decide on pickups since they influence the design. I ended on Delano MC 4 FE (MM style) and PMVC FE/M2 (P-bass style). I have played basses with Delanos many times (MM style and...
